Prof. Joao Pedro De Magalhaes is a professor of musculoskeletal & ageing science at the University of Liverpool, where he runs his lab. Joao studies the mysteries of the ageing process, and how we can manipulate it to fend off age-related diseases and improve human health. In this short exert from his talk, Joao discusses how the rate of ageing varies across species, and what might cause this.
