This Adorable Salamander Has  X-Men's Wolverine Like Superpowers

Axolotls are a type of salamander found in Mexican lakes, and they are famous for their 'super-healing' powers

They can heal without scarring

Even more impressive is their ability to grow entire limbs

Axolotl genome is 10x bigger than human genome, but it encodes simlar number of proteins (around 20,000)

These unique features  are the reason why Axolotls are widely used as model organisms in regenerative research

Unfortunately, as Axolotls age their regenerative abilites decline.  The is due to age related changes occuring in central nervous system.

Lastly, Axoltols showed low occurence of cancer, which suggests that their physiology is  resistant to many types of aging related damage
