In the summer of 1991, photographer Zed Nelson invited Sue and Frank, new parents he’d met at a party, to visit his studio in London for a photograph with their new-born, Eddie. Though they might not have realised it at the time, this photograph would become a 30-year tradition. Every year, Nelson would take a photograph with the same backdrop, the same lighting, and the same positioning, documenting the family’s lives through a yearly snapshot.
The results are thought-provoking – you can see the full collection of photographs and read about Nelson and the family’s thoughts on the experience in this article. Be sure to also check out all of Zed Nelson’s photographs on his website.
