Do you want to live a longer, healthier life? Do you want to hear about cutting edge research in longevity and medicine? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, you should check out these fantastic evidence-based podcasts.
Peter Attia is a physician who focusses on the science of longevity. His ability to translate cutting edge science into something the average individual can use makes this podcast a great source of information for those interested in living longer. He’s also not afraid to dive deep into the details, making The Drive perfect for those who want to harness the full potential of what gerontology is teaching us.
Just as computing revolutionised the world in ways we couldn’t have previously imagined, biotechnology may be about to fundamentally transform our lives. In this bi-weekly podcast, Hanne Winarsky and Lauren Richardson examine how life sciences, healthcare and technology come together to help us live longer, healthier lives. In their journal club episodes, they cover breakthrough scientific research and how that research can be taken from paper to practice.
With a strong focus on nutrition, H.V.M.N. Co-founder and Executive Chair Geoffrey Woo explores how we can become ‘the best versions of ourselves’. His guests include some of the leading experts in the fields of nutrition, exercise and longevity. If you want to find out how you can optimise your diet, this podcast is sure to have information that will help you.
While not specifically focussed on longevity, Howard Bauchner’s podcast is a great way to keep up with the biggest issues facing medicine and healthcare. It also provides some excellent insights into the implications of new research.
In another nutrition focussed podcast, Dr Masterjohn‘s goal is to translate complex science into practical ideas that are actionable by the listener. He also has the occasional Ask Me Anything episode, in which he answers subscribers’ most pressing questions on everything nutritional.
Founded in 2011 by Theral Timpson and Ayanna Monteverdi, MendelsPod aims to provide broader insights into the advances that will shape our future as a species. How are new technologies like genome sequencing changing our lives, and what new challenges do they bring?
No matter how intent you are on staying alive as long as possible, simply going about our lives entails a great deal of inevitable risk. Weighing different risks against each other is not an easy task for most people, especially with the amount of misinformation out there. There are few people more equipped to help than Winton Professor of the Public Understanding of Risk, David Speigelhalter. In this podcast, he is joined by expert guests to discuss where the numbers we see in the news come from and how they can be better communicated.
When making this list, we decided to prioritise podcasts that are specifically focussed on longevity. Here are some excellent podcasts that we omitted, but that are very much worth a listen:
